Most people dont know what to think when they hear web 2.0. Wikipedia’s definition of web 2.0 is this:
“Web 2.0 is a trend in World Wide Web technology, and web design, a second generation of web-based communities and hosted services such as social-networking sites, wikis, blogs, and folksonomies, which aim to facilitate creativity, collaboration, and sharing among users.”
I completely agree with this definition. I believe that web 2.0 is not a fluke or a bubble and is here to stay.
Think of it as the new way to surf the web. Nowadays you can connect and share almost anything to anyone thanks to web 2.0. Myspace, facebook, and wikipedia are the best and most popular examples of web 2.0 and this is only the beginning. I believe that in the near future we will have access to such things as an ‘online operating sytem’ where we will no longer have to download things onto our hard drives and can use everything we already have on our computers on the web.
What i plan on doing with this blog is to show my interest in web 2.0 via sites and resources that i find appealing and appropriate that relate to the subject. Any news that i think relates to web 2.0 will be posted here in an effort to not only inform the readers of this blog about web 2.0 news, but also to get feedback about my postings and how they utilize web 2.0 in their own way.
